Resurface is a professional-grade, trowel-applied mineral finish designed to create seamless surfaces over a variety of substrates, including tile, stone, concrete, plywood, and other properly prepared surfaces. It can be applied to walls and floors, making it ideal for renovations and architectural applications where a continuous, modern mineral finish is desired.

Surface Preparation
Surfaces must be structurally sound, stable, dry, clean, and free of paint, wax, oil, sealers, dust, and other contaminants that may interfere with adhesion. Apply Color Atelier All-Surface Primer over tile, stone, plywood, concrete, and other non-absorbent or difficult-to-bond surfaces. Fiberglass mesh should be used over tile with wide grout lines and concrete surfaces with imperfections, chips, or pinholes. All cracks and joints must be properly repaired before application. For wet areas, the substrate must be properly waterproofed before applying mesh, primer, and Resurface.

Mixing
Resurface requires only the addition of clean water. Mechanically mix approximately 2–2.5 liters of clean water per 32 lb package until a smooth, workable consistency is achieved. Work in manageable batches and use mixed material promptly.

Application
Apply Resurface with a trowel in two coats. Apply the first coat as flat and even as possible and allow it to fully dry for approximately 24 hours. Apply the second coat smooth and tight, using short, irregular trowel movements to create the desired surface character. Each coat should be approximately 1/8" (3 mm) thick.

Maintain surface and ambient temperatures between 40°F and 95°F during application and for at least 48 hours afterward, and protect the installation from direct sunlight.

For walls, allow the second coat to dry approximately 70% while still slightly damp, then polish with a clean burnishing trowel. Alternatively, allow the finish to dry completely and polish with an orbital sander using 250–350 grit sandpaper. For floors, allow the second coat to dry completely before sanding with 250–350 grit sandpaper. Vacuum and thoroughly remove all dust before sealing.

Sealing
Sealing is required. Walls may be finished with Color Atelier Wax-Sealer, Wax-Paste, or Urethane Sealer in two coats. Floors and countertops must be protected with two coats of Color Atelier Urethane Sealer.

Resurface is intended for professional application and requires experience with trowel-applied decorative finishes. It is not suitable for water immersion, such as pools, or for application over wood floors, linoleum, lightweight underlayment subfloors, unrepaired cracks, or expansion, isolation, and control joints.
